In September 2018 I was lucky to meet Julia Cissewski of the nonprofit organization “Orang-Utans in Not e.V.” (Orangutans in need) at a movie-set party. Julia is a member of Max-Planck-Institute for evolutionary anthropology in Leipzig, Saxony. She founded this organization to help the conservation of the endangered species of orangutans of Borneo and Sumatra. Besides a whole lot of public relations, the organization is raising funds to support rescue-centers for endangered apes in Indonesia in their most significant job. When Julia asked me if I was willing to contribute a couple of illustrations for the organization, I was more than happy to be able to help and agreed immediately. The conservation of endangered species is very dear to me since I was a child, and also reflected in my project “Endangered Jungle” for Berlin Underground station Hermannstraße. The more honored I felt being nominated an official ambassador of the organization now.
The greatest danger to our future is apathy.
The organization “Orang-Utans in Not e.V.” launched a project week in a school in Leipzig, Germany. The result was a series of short stories about the orangutans in the rescue center in Borneo. I was happy to contribute two illustrations for those stories.
I also designed a Postcard, which will help to raise awareness and support for the organization in the future. Its the image i used as the header for this post.
