After the construction work on the platform of the underground station Berlin Hermannstrasse had finally been completed in the last year, it was now the time to design the northern entrance. The platform itself shows life-size illustrations for which I portrayed 85 different endangered species of animals living in the tropical rain forests around the globe. The entrance zone of the underground station was supposed to connect to this theme in its design as well, however it would only feature tropical plans and no animals this time .
Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.
I painted two extremely long panorama illustrations featuring tropical vegetation, using gouache watercolors on paper. Those Illustrations were reproduced on panels which have been mounted to the balustrade elements surrounding both of the northern entrances. By that means I could add a calm and green accent to a busy crossroads in the multicultural neighborhood of Berlin Neukölln.
